Jeff Bezos shares video update on local $205M rocket center: ‘Coming along nicely’

Blue Origin’s $205 million, 750,000-square-foot rocket center is much more than just rebar pipes sticking out of a concrete foundation, and Jeff Bezos‘ latest video proves it.

The billionaire owner of e-retail giant Amazon.com Inc. (NYSE: AMZN) and reusable rocket company Blue Origin LLC showed off the latest update for the rocket manufacturing center in Exploration Park on Florida’s Space Coast. The video gives an aerial view of the building and near the end zooms in on Bezos on the roof holding a sign that reads, “Rocket factory coming soon.” Check out the video here.

The center is slated for completion by the end of the year and will create 330 high-tech, high-wage jobs paying an average annual salary of $89,000.

Blue Origin has already landed rocket launch clients like OneWeb Satellites to help OneWeb reach its goal of launching 900 satellites to orbit. Those launches will take place in Cape Canaveral.

All of this activity matters for the Central Florida because it creates not only more high-wage jobs but business opportunities for local parts manufacturers, restaurants, hotels and caterers.
